Letter From the Dean 

My Dear Fellow Scouters,

Welcome to the 19th annual Lord Baden-Powell University of Scouting for 2008.  Growing Through Learning, this year's theme, is one that I hold as one of the most essential concepts to the success of today's Scouting Movement.  As Scouters we continue to grow.  As we pass along our knowledge to our peers and our scouts, they, too, will grow.  The new adults and youth of today want to know the ways of Scouting.  If they do not grow, Scouting will stagnate and that would be a great loss to all.

Lord Baden-Powell believed that all leaders should be and need to be trained.  This tradition is carried forward today as well.  The growth and success of the BSA movement is a direct result of that tradition and belief.  I encourage all of you to take advantage of your Council's training opportunities.  The BSA program is fortunate to  have many great trainers with the latest information to share with you.  The Lord Baden-Powell University of Scouting would like to invite you to attend the University this coming March 7-9th 2008.  The University is a wonderful place to network and grow with other Scouters, not only from the Central Region, but from all over the United States as well.
